Today we celebrate the feast of the great St. Theresa of the Roses; the Little Flower of Jesus. She conquered the world through her “Little Way,” and changed the face of Holy Mother Church through her simplicity and joy.
St. Theresa said, “I will spend my heaven doing good upon earth. I shall let fall from heaven a shower of roses!” Anyone who has had devotion to her and prayed novenas in her honor can tell you of the miraculous presentation of roses to acknowledge that she has heard and is answering her devotees request. Such is the Will of Almighty God in the great doctrine of the Communion of Saints.
Contrary to protestant teaching, it is God’s Will that we go to the dear Blessed Mother and to His saints to ask for help. If I can ask you to pray for me, why not ask those who have gone before and whom we know, by miracles and the approbation of Holy Mother Church are in heaven and waiting, wanting to help us? God knows that we need a human face of sanctity. In saintly sinners who have triumphed we see the blessed Face of Christ in His many guises; fathers, mothers, virgins, repentant ones, the young and the old, the worker and the royal, lay and religious, children and clergy. God calls all, according to our state of life to be saints and spend eternity in bliss. Dear St. Theresa, she who died so young but lives forever enthroned in heaven with the blessed, is a great example to follow.
“O Blessed St. Theresa, please pick for me a rose from the heavenly gardens and send it to me with a message of love! O Little Flower of Jesus, ask God today to grant the favor I now place with confidence in your hands. Help me to believe as you did, in God’s great love for me, so that I may imitate your Little Way each day.
Pray for me, St. Theresa of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face!
