Throughout history Our Blessed King Jesus has sent His holy and dear Mother, Mary Most Holy to certain souls, (mostly children) to reiterate the teachings of the Holy Gospels. Holy Mother Church, through rigorous and fine judgement has approved of those that are real apparitions and which can be recommended to the Faithful to help them on the way of life to eternal life.
We must always note that we are not obliged to believe in any private revelation. We are obliged to believe public revelation- Holy Scripture and Holy Tradition, which has been given us unchanged, down through the centuries from Our Blessed Lord and His first apostles.
In 1531, Our Blessed Mother appeared to Juan Diego in December and generated, with her miraculous image on the tilma of Juan Diego and the many, many miracles at her shrine, the great conversion of Mexico and Latin America to the Catholic Faith, (just before the terrible Protestant Deformation which would occur later in that momentous century.)
Indeed, the Blessed Virgin Mary entered into the very lifestream of Central America and became an inextricable part of Mexican life and a central figure in the history of Mexico itself. The three most important religious celebrations in the Latin world are Christmas, Holy Week and Easter Sunday and December 12th., the feast day of Our Lady. Here are the actual words of the Holy Virgin to Juan Diego:
“DEAR LITTLE SON, I LOVE YOU. IWANT YOU TO KNOW WHO I AM. I AM THE VIRGIN MARY, MOTHER OF THE ONE, TRUE GOD, OF HIM WHO GIVES LIFE. HE IS LORD AND CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH.
I DESIRE THAT THERE BE BUILT A TEMPLE AT THIS PLACE WHERE I WANT TO MANIFEST HIM, TO MAKE HIM KNOWN, GIVE HIM TO ALL PEOPLE THROUGH MY LOVE, MY COMPASSION, MY HELP AND MY PROTECTION. I TRULY AM YOUR MERCIFUL MOTHER, YOUR MOTHER AND THE MOTHER OF ALL WHO DWELL IN THIS LAND, AND OF ALL MANKIND, OF ALL THOSE WHO LOVE ME, OF THOSE WHO CRY TO ME, AND OF THOSE WHO SEEK AND PLACE THEIR TRUST IN ME…
AM I NOT HERE WHO AM YOUR MOTHER? ARE YOU NOT UNDER MY SHADOW AND PROTECTION? AM I NOT THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUR JOY? ARE YOU NOT IN THE VERY FOLD OF MY MANTLE, IN THE CRADLE OF MY ARMS?”
Let us love her and because of her come to JESUS CHRIST, Who is the source and summit of all our longings.
