LOVELY LADY DRESSED IN BLUE- First Saturday

Lovely Lady dressed in blue-
Teach me how to pray!
God was just your little Boy,
Tell me what to say!
Did you lift Him up. sometimes,
Gently on your knee?
Did you sing to Him the way
Mother does to me?
Did you hold His hand at night?
Did you ever try
Telling stories of the world?
O, and did He cry?
Do you really think He cares
If I tell Him things-
Little things that happen, and
Do the angels’ wings
Make a noise? Can He hear
Me if I speak low?
Does He understand me now?
Tell me- for you know!
Lovely Lady dressed in blue,
Teach me how to pray!
God was just your little Boy
and you know the way.

FEAST OF THE FINDING OF THE TRUE CROSS- First Friday

See Me come to save the world,
born in Bethlehem
Of the fragrant, Mystic Rose-
of that Rose the Stem

See me follow Joseph’s word
working with My hands
See Me the very Son of God
obey a son of man

See Me now condemned to die
see Me take the cross
See Me walk to Calvary
see Me fill your loss

See Me fastened to the wood
see Me lifted high
See them laugh and spit at Me
see My Mother cry

See her meekly standing there
see her spirit ache
See the sword of sorrow plunge-
see her poor heart break

See the nails inside My hands
see them cruelly torn
See My tortured, injured feet
see My Crown of Thorn

See the wounds the scourging gave
see Me do your part
See Me drink the chalice dry-
see My Bleeding Heart

See My child where I am
nailed upon a tree
Now tell Me, dearest little one,
who loves you more than Me?

TO GREAT SAINT ANTHONY OF PADUA

O St. Anthony, model of great holiness, help me to live as a true Catholic, faithful to the grace of God given me in Baptism and all the holy sacraments I have received.
You know how great are the dangers and difficulties that surround me; grant that I may overcome all the temptations to evil and sin that present themselves to me and have the strength to witness my faith courageously, to have a reason for the hope that lies within me.
Obtain for me a heart that is capable of loving God above all things, a heart that is ready to accept His holy will even when He asks of me sacrifice and renunciation.
Open my soul to a generous and sincere love towards all my brothers and sisters, in a manner that I not be closed within myself but be disposed to serve my neighbors; to console them who suffer and to help them who are in need.
Dear St. Anthony, I confide my intentions to you, who are enthroned in heaven with the saints and angels, with all who have walked the walk and live in the reward of Love, Light eternal. Amen.

A Thought

In the works of many doctors of the Church, the early Church is often compared to an acorn. We must remember that She is no longer an acorn but a full, beautiful Tree in whose branches, fully realized theology brought forth by the Holy Spirit, hungry souls find rest and protection.

O Lord Jesus, we thank You for the institution of Your Holy Catholic Church, so beset and derided by men, our avenue and place of refuge in a world gone mad. Give to Your Remnant, scattered throughout the earth, courage in the face of persecution, charity for souls and kindness for all the children of men. Have mercy on us and protect us and help us to always remember that we are Catholic forever. In Your Holy Name we pray. Amen.

THE SECRET

I will tell you a secret…

You and I and all who are called to live the life of Love have a special name known only to God. “I know My sheep and mine know me, and I call each by name…” When it is time for us to pass from this life, this pilgrimage in vale of tears, God whispers this name to the soul and the soul, unable to withstand the call, leaves the body to meet the Ineffable and Eternal Creator, there in His presence to give an account. May it be the great and magnificent homecoming it is meant to be, and not a terror of judgement. “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom…” Now, in this moment, while we can we make our plea to God in the Holy Name of Jesus, not just for ourselves, but for each person that we know and do not know. For each soul that we love and do not love. Those for whom we have prayed and those who have no one to pray for them. We fly to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, where all manner of sin and imperfection is forgiven and forgotten. Where the merits of Him Who alone loves us eternally imputes these merits to us by grace and inexpressible kindness.

United to His sacrifice, even the most minute actions become salvific and meritorious. The very breaths we take, the blinking of an eye, the thoughts we think- everything is transformed for our benefit by the One Who made us. How marvelous and humbling is the Catholic faith! However imperfect we be, we are Catholics forever.

Blessed Be The Holy Name of Jesus

FIRST SATURDAY, APRIL 6TH., 2013

Read the words of the Lord Jesus to Sister Lucia of Fatima on December 10th., 1925-

“HAVE COMPASSION ON THE HEART OF YOUR MOST HOLY MOTHER, COVERED WITH THORNS WHICH UNGRATEFUL MEN PLACE THEREIN AT EVERY MOMENT, WHILE THERE IS NO ONE WHO DOES AN ACT OF REPARATION TO WITHDRAW THEM FROM HER.”

Our Lady then addressed Lucia as follows:

‘BEHOLD, MY DAUGHTER, MY HEART ENCIRCLED WITH THORNS, WITH WHICH UNGRATEFUL MEN PIERCE IT AT EVERY MOMENT BY THEIR BLASPHEMIES AND INGRATITUDE. GIVE ME CONSOLATION, YOU, AT LEAST; AND MAKE KNOWN ON MY BEHALF THAT I PROMISE TO ASSIST AT THE HOUR OF DEATH, WITH THE GRACES NECESSARY FOR SALVATION, ALL WHO ON THE FIRST SATURDAY OF FIVE CONSECUTIVE MONTHS CONFESS THEIR SINS, RECEIVE HOLY COMMUNION, RECITE FIVE DECADES OF THE ROSARY, AND KEEP ME COMPANY FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES MEDITATING ON THE MYSTERIES OF THE ROSARY, WITH THE PURPOSE OF MAKING REPARATION TO MY IMMACULATE HEART.”

O Lord Jesus, give us a great and lasting love for the Heart of Thy Most Holy Mother. May her obedience and love for Thee inspire us to love thee with all our hearts. Give us the gift of joy in the midst of sorrow, equanimity in the face of changing circumstance, and a will of bronze for our baptismal and confirmation vows. Have mercy upon us and protect all those we love. Blessed Jesus, Thy Love is our guide and compass amidst an ocean of doubt. Amen.

COURAGE

Every priest during his apostolate meets many different kinds of people. The devout, the humble, the arrogant, the sincere but misguided, the angry, the sweet, the dangerous, the blasphemous, the dysfunctional, the mentally ill, the loving, the inspirational, the saintly and the courageous. I would like to share a little about a most courageous lady I have the honor of knowing. Her name is known to me and will not be shared. She is important because she has the one quality that can change everything for the good. She is brave.

Bravery in the spiritual life is closely allied with humility, and is in my opinion the barometer of whether or not a soul will be successful in living the spiritual life of the true Catholic. It comes not from great deeds or aspirations but from the one ingredient that changes the soul for Jesus Christ- surrender.

Remember that God does not want golden vessels; He does not want silver vessels; He wants YIELDED vessels. This lady has yielded her life to grace and become a true Catholic in the face of the greatest trial anyone can endure- the family. To be able to withstand the constant barrage of passive aggressive and overt aggressive family members who are challenged to the point of fear and controlling manipulation is amazing in its courage.

It is easy to stand against the world. It is very difficult to stand against those one loves! To forge ahead with only the bloody Christ in view when it is would be so easy to acquiesce takes a courage that is most inspiring to any priest working in the catacombs of this age.

We who try to follow Him lose so much that is important to a stable life. There have been times in Church history where this is clearly shown, but nowhere on such a global scale as is happening today. The fact that many who call themselves Christian are most uncharitable, dysfunctional and downright nasty makes it even more difficult. This is why I have such admiration for this lady and those like her.

Something we must never forget is this: If we do not have LOVE then all the correct dogma and doctrine mean nothing. The law of Christ is first and foremost one of love and kindness. Out of this fountain flow all manner of beautiful and holy things, gentle courtesy being one of the most rare. If we can remember and follow this teaching, then all good things will follow. We must keep our eyes on the prize and follow the King of Love. It is very simple. That is all.

O Lord Jesus, King of love and mercy, have mercy upon me a sinner. Give me the courage to say yes to grace like Thy most Blessed Mother, so that I and all whom I love will be saved. Keep me mindful of the needs of others and especially keep me silent when I would try to defend myself or argue with souls who are only the means of my testing and proving. May Thy kingdom come in my heart and in my will. I ask this in union with all the saints and angels in the whole Church, triumphant, militant and suffering. Amen.

EASTER, MARCH 31st., 2012

REJOICE AND BE GLAD, O VIRGIN MARY! ALLELUIA!
FOR THE SON WHICH YOU LOVEST- ALLELUIA!
IS GLORIOUSLY RISEN FROM THE DEAD! ALLELUIA!

Mighty Victim from the sky,
Hell’s fierce powers beneath Thee lie;
Thou hast conquered in the fight,
Thou hast brought us life and light:
Now no more can death appall,
Now no more the grave enthrall:
Thou hast opened Paradise,
and in Thee Thy saints shall rise!

Easter triumph, Easter joy,
Sin alone can this destroy;
From sin’s power do Thou set free-
Souls new-born, O Lord, in Thee.
Hymns of glory, songs of praise,
Father unto Thee we raise:
Risen Lord Jesus, all praise to Thee
With the Spirit ever be. Amen.

-From the latin by Robert Campbell, 1849

Risen Lord Jesus, have mercy upon us and save us! Visit us with They resurrection power, that we may delight in Thy will and walk in Thy ways, to the glory of Thy Name, Amen.

“AND I, IF I BE LIFTED UP FROM THE EARTH, WILL DRAW ALL MEN UNTO ME…”

Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of lords, gives His life a ransom for many. At the foot of the cross let us offer an act of contrition…

FORGIVE ME MY SINS, O LORD, FORGIVE ME MY SINS; THE SINS OF MY YOUTH, THE SINS OF MY AGE, THE SINS OF MY SOUL, THE SINS OF MY BODY, MY IDLE SINS, MY SERIOUS VOLUNTARY SINS, THE SINS I KNOW, THE SINS I DO NOT KNOW; THE SINS I HAVE CONCEALED SO LONG, AND WHICH NOW ARE HIDDEN FROM MY MEMORY.

I AM TRULY SORRY FOR EVERY SIN, MORTAL AND VENIAL, FOR ALL THE SINS OF MY CHILDHOOD UP TO THE PRESENT HOUR.

I KNOW MY SINS HAVE WOUNDED THY TENDER HEART, O MY SAVIOUR, LET ME BE FREED FROM THE BONDS OF EVIL THROUGH THY MOST BITTER PASSION, O MY REDEEMER, AMEN.

O MY JESUS, FORGIVE AND FORGET WHAT I HAVE BEEN.

MOST SORROWFUL AND IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY, SUBSTANTIALLY UNITED TO THE HEART OF CHRIST, PRAY FOR ME A SINNER, AMEN.

HOLY THURSDAY, MARCH 28TH., 2013

Our Blessed Lord was not the victim of circumstance or under forces of any kind. He marched to Jerusalem. He marched to His own torture and death. He gave Himself over to sin and to death, “For this is your hour…”-to imprisonment and humiliation.

Before this happened He instituted the Holy Eucharist and said the first mass. At this mass He ordained His apostles His first priests. Therefore Maundy Thursday, (from the Latin maundatus- to command) is the feast day of all priests. By creating the sacrament of His Body and Blood He remains with us to the very end; “Behold, I am with you always, even unto the consummation of the world!”

O Blessed Lord Jesus, thank You for the magnificent gift of Yourself in the sacrament of the altar. Have mercy on us and forgive us. Bless Your priests and save them for Yourself. Give us every grace that You would have for us and keep us mindful of those Who are imprisoned and suffering, especially for love of You, for You were a prisoner and remain the Prisoner of Love in every tabernacle of the world. Amen.
