Trinity Sunday and Father’s Day

Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore Thee profoundly.  I offer Thee the Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world.  In reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences by which He is offended, and through theth intercession of His Most Sacred Heart, and the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of sinners.  Amen.

Our Father, You place a father in a family as a sign of Your Love, care and constant protection.  May fathers everywhere be faithful to the example shown in Holy Writ: steadfast in love, forgiving transgressions, sustaining the family, caring for those in need.  Give Your wisdom to fathers that they may encourage and guide their children.  Guide every father with the Spirit of Your Divine Love, that they may grow in holiness and draw their family ever closer to You.  We pray this in the Holy Name of Jesus, with Our Blessed Mother Mary, Most Holy and with great Saint Joseph, whom You chose to be the Foster Father of Your Son and the dear Spouse of His Mother.

Amen.

Pentecost, the Birthday of Holy Mother Church

Come, Oh Holy Ghost and fill the hearts of Thy faithful!  Enkindle in them the fire of Thy Love…

Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created, and Thou shalt renew the face of the earth!

Oh God, Who by the Light of the Holy Ghost, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Ghost we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolations.  Through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.  Amen.

Feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary

O Mary, Immaculate Queen, look down upon this distressed and suffering world.  Thou knowest our misery and weakness.  O, Thou who art Our Mother, save us in the hour of peril and have compassion on us in these days of great trial.

Jesus has confided to thee the treasure of His Grace and through thee He wills to grant us pardon and mercy.  In these hours of anguish, therefore thy children come to thee as their hope.

We recognize thy Queenship and ardently desire thy triumph.  We need a Mother and a Mother’s Heart.  Thou art for us the luminous dawn which dissipates our darkness and points our way to life.  In ththy clemency obtain for us the courage and confidence of which we have such need.

Most Holy and Adorable Trinity, Thou Who didst crown with glory in Heaven the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Saviour, grant that all her children on earth may acknowledge her as their Queen, that all hearts, homes and nations may recognize her rights as Mother and Queen, receiving such from Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  Amen.

Mary Immaculate Queen, triumph and reign!

Ninth and Final Day of Novena to Great Saint Joseph- Feast of Saint John Baptiste de la Salle

On this final day of our novena to dear Saint Joseph, we humbly bring all our intentions, our needs, our hopes, our fears, our joys and our requests for not only ourselves, but for those whom we love- we bring all of these to our patron in heaven and ask him to bless us with his beatitude and bring our requests to the Throne of Grace.  It is God’s Will that we make use of the mystery of the Communion of Saints.  The saints are our friends who have gone before us, marked with the sign of the faith, who have made it to that land of glory!  They want us to turn to them in prayer and recognize the work of God that was made manifest through them while on earth and the glory made manifest in them in heaven.  They are an integral part of the Christian’s life.  How wonderful it is to have friends in truly high places!

Oh, Saint Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God; I place in you all my interest and desires.  Oh, Saint Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.  So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers.  Oh, Saint Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms.  I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart.  Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me and ask Him to return that kiss when I draw my final breath.

Saint Joseph, patron of departing souls, pray for me!  Amen.

Saint John Baptiste de la Salle, pray for us.  Amen

Octave Day of Saint Joseph, Eighth Day of Novena- Feast of Saint Boniface

Today is the octave day of the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, Solace of the Afflicted, Hope of the sick, Patron of the Dying, Terror of demons and Guardian of the Universal Church.  He is especially invoked as the Patron of the dying, as he had the great and immeasurable honor of having Jesus and Mary with him as he died.  Pray to him each day, along with Our Blessed Mother for the great gift of having his patronage as we leave this vale of tears.  To have Mary and Joseph at our passing means Jesus will surely be there!  May great Saint Joseph lead you to the Source of all life and consolation, victory and serenity, joy and contentment, which is Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

The Feast of Our Lady of Fatima

We celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Fatima, for on this day in 1917, The Blessed Mother made her first appearance to three shepherd children in the mountains of Portugal.  They were Jacinta, (age 7,) Francisco, (age 9,) and Lucia, (age 10.)  She appeared to them once a month from May to October.  The lives of the three children of Fatima were entirely transformed by the heavenly apparitions.

While fulfilling their duties of their state of life with the greatest fidelity, those children seemed now to live only for prayer and sacrifice, which they offered in a spirit of reparation to obtain peace in the world and the conversion of sinners.  They deprived themselves of water during the periods of great heat; they gave their lunches to poor children; they wore around their waists thick cords that even drew blood; they abstained from innocent pleasures and urged one another to the practice of prayer and penance with an ardor comparable to that of the great saints.

Our Lady communicated with Lucia in all of her appearances.  She asked the Blessed Mother to take them to heaven.  “Yes,” Our Lady answered, “I will take Jacinta and Francisco soon.  You, however, are to stay here a longer time.  Jesus wants to use you to make me known and loved.  HE WANTS TO ESTABLISH DEVOTION TO MY IMMACULATE HEART IN THE WORLD.  I PROMISE SALVATION TO THOSE WHO EMBRACE IT AND THEIR SOULS WILL BE LOVED BY GOD AS FLOWERS PLACED MYSELF TO ADORN HIS THRONE.”

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.

Seventh Day of Novena to Saint Joseph- Feast of Saint Robert Bellarmine

Saint Joseph, Mirror of patience, Lover of poverty, Model of workmen, Glory of domestic life, Guardian of virgins  and Pillar of families, pray for us.

The Jesuit, Saint Robert Bellarmine was the spiritual father of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga and helped Saint Francis de Sales obtain formal approval of the Visitation Order, which gave us Saint Margaret Mary, who received her great visions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

He used logic and correct theology to refute the many different heresies of the Protestants.  He also expounded on the Catholic idea of democracy in the area of Church relations with the world.  He taught that the power to rule originates with Almighty God, but is vested with the people, who entrust it to fit rulers.  This is an important, but not the only governance that is approved by Holy Mother Church, monarchy being another, as is evidenced by Holy Writ.

He was an outstanding teacher and devoted servant of the Triune God.  Also, in an interesting aside, he opposed severe action in the case of Galileo Galilei.

Saint Robert Bellarmine, pray for us.

Sixth Day of Novena to Saint Joseph- Feast of Sts. Nereus and Companions

Saint Joseph, most just, most chaste, most prudent, most valiant, most obedient and most faithful- pray for us.

Saints Nereus and Achilleus were in the military of Rome when they were converted to Christ and threw down their weapons and literally ran to a new life as Catholics.  They, who once were part of the persecution of Christians, now were persecuted themselves, all for the love of Christ.  They were martyred, along with many of their companions- Flavia Domitilla, the great-niece of Emperor Domitian, among them, along with Saint Pancratius.  I have a special love for Saint Pancratius, as my childhood parish was named after this great martyr.  It was also in that church that I first experienced not only the love of Christ in His Church, but the great sadness that Vatican II brought about in turning it into a Protestant meeting house.  What we have lost!  God have mercy on us all.

Saints Nereus, Achilleus, Domitilla, Pancratius, and all thou holy martyrs, pray for all those in the military throughout the world that they may always see God as their true authority and obey God in all their actions. Amen.
