In the works of many doctors of the Church, the early Church is often compared to an acorn. We must remember that She is no longer an acorn but a full, beautiful Tree in whose branches, fully realized theology brought forth by the Holy Spirit, hungry souls find rest and protection.
O Lord Jesus, we thank You for the institution of Your Holy Catholic Church, so beset and derided by men, our avenue and place of refuge in a world gone mad. Give to Your Remnant, scattered throughout the earth, courage in the face of persecution, charity for souls and kindness for all the children of men. Have mercy on us and protect us and help us to always remember that we are Catholic forever. In Your Holy Name we pray. Amen.
